Senior Associate - Logistics

 

Alaris Consulting Inc. is currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Associate or Director, within our Management Consulting firm. We offer qualified candidates an exciting opportunity to join an entrepreneurial, high-growth consulting firm.

About the Firm

Alaris is a boutique strategy and operations consulting firm with offices currently in the US, China, and India (one Managing Director currently leading the office build out). Alaris was founded in 1990 and acquired by Allied Capital (NYSE: ALD) in 2001. Alaris’ service offerings include; Operation Due Diligence, China and India Market Entry Strategy / Support and Global Supply Chain Optimization (specifically focused on strategic sourcing, logistics, and product profitability). Our clients range from the Fortune 100 to privately held middle market companies.

Our headquarters are in Chicago, IL. Most of our clients’ are headquartered in North America. Due to a project based work environment, we require travel up to 100%, potentially including some international travel. This position will be based in our Chicago office. There is no relocation assistance for this position.

Job Description

Senior Associates report directly or indirectly to Directors on a project by project basis. The Director has overall project accountability, including client management, scope management, and the personal development of Senior Associates and Associates on the project. The Director also has practice line and firm development responsibility. The Senior Associate takes responsibility for completion of specific project modules, presents and advises the client up to the executive level, works within a project plan with minimal supervision, and oversees the work of our Associates. On selected client engagements the Senior Associate might be required to fulfill a role that includes the duties of a Senior Associate, Associate and/or Project Manager.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree is required; pertinent Master’s work is a plus. The most qualified candidates will possess two plus years of recent, relevant consulting experience working in the consulting industry, combined with complementary industry experience totaling 4 to 8 years. We are searching for candidates with operations analysis skills and work experience in engineering or operations. WE ARE NOT SEEKING TECHNICAL SYSTEMS IMPLEMENTORS.

The qualified candidate will have consulting experience in one or more of the following areas:
1) Logistics Procurement

• Experience in supporting or managing transportation (e.g. TL, LTL, Ocean, Rail, Intermodal) and/or third party logistics services
• Experience using eSourcing technologies is a plus

2) Supply Chain Network Design

• Experience in the design and optimization of supply chain networks
• Experience with ‘real world’ assessment, design, and implementation, including: labor markets; tax implications; manufacturing and transportation impact; customer service consideration; and third party logistics providers (3PLs)
• Experience with optimization software tools; experience with Logic-Tools LogicNet Plus is a plus

3) Demand Planning / Forecasting

• Experience in the design, implementation and management of corporate demand planning and/or forecasting processes
• Experience with advanced tools and methodologies to support quick assessment and development of quantified improvements for perspective clients

4) Inventory Management

• Experience in the management of inventory planning, including setting inventory policies, establishing inventory metrics and setting inventory targets.
• Experience with one or more strategic inventory reductions program(s) within industry or consulting
• Experience with Logic-Tools IA module is a plus
