Senior Associate - Sourcing and Procurement

 

Alaris Consulting Inc. is currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Associate within our Management Consulting firm. We offer qualified candidates an exciting opportunity to join an entrepreneurial, high-growth consulting firm.

About the Firm

Alaris is a boutique strategy and operations consulting firm with offices currently in the US, China, and India (one Managing Director currently leading the office build out). Alaris was founded in 1990 and acquired by Allied Capital (NYSE: ALD) in 2001. Alaris’ service offerings include; Operation Due Diligence, China and India Market Entry Strategy / Support and Global Supply Chain Optimization (specifically focused on strategic sourcing, logistics, and product profitability). Our clients range from the Fortune 100 to privately held middle market companies.

Our headquarters are in Chicago, IL. Most of our clients’ are headquartered in North America. Due to a project based work environment, we require travel up to 100%, potentially including some international travel. This position will be based in our Chicago office. There is no relocation assistance for this position.

Job Description

Senior Associates report directly or indirectly to Directors on a project-to-project basis. Senior Associates are responsible for database analysis, financial modeling, general business analysis, research, and generating reports for the client or project team. The Senior Associate takes responsibility for completion of specific project modules, presents and advises the client up to the executive level, works within a project plan with minimal supervision, and oversees the work of our Associates. On selected client engagements the Senior Associate might be required to fulfill a role that includes the duties of a Director and/or Project Manager.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree is required; pertinent Master’s work is a plus. Other requirements include two plus years of recent, relevant consulting experience working in the consulting industry, combined with complementary industry experience totaling four to eight years. We are searching for candidates with operations analysis skills and work experience in engineering or operations. WE ARE NOT SEEKING TECHNICAL SYSTEMS IMPLEMENTORS.

Strategic sourcing experience is required, while broader, supply chain/logistical manufacturing experience (including make vs. buy analysis) is a plus. The qualified candidate will have consulting experience in the following procurement / strategic sourcing areas:

  • Experience with detailed spend & supplier market analysis and opportunity identification
  • Experience with implementing structured supplier selection / negotiation processes and supplier alliance management & development programs
  • Experience with online auctions / reverse auctions, e-procurement process / systems and RFP development & management
  • Experience designing and implementing supplier management programs, including supplier scorecards
  • Experience assessing, improving and implementing procurement processes and organizations
  • Project management accountability and experience; ideal candidates will be prepared to run a strategic sourcing project
